China, a Nation with Rich Values
I feel really pity and embarrassed to quote that I never felt this secured in my own land as I am feeling as an expat in China. Walking miles and miles away, I never experienced any terror of strangers hitting me, chasing or even gaze. Although being a Karachitian, I am brave enough to wander the whole city of Karachi, but with fear. There, I never drove without bashing on fellow drivers (Karachi). Here, the car horns are hardly audible (China). Comparing both societies, one thing that I strongly witnessed is that there is no such phenomenon of “Empowerment” or “Humanity” they need to focus or work on, it has been induced in their genes already in such a way that these have become the norms of their daily living.
Helping foreigners, passing smile, do anything to help them even with language barriers, they know the signs of trouble a foreigner is facing. Covering my head, no objection! I am surprised how come they respect my attire more than my own fellowmen.
I felt myself a Celebrity in Beijing on National vacations where taking pictures together was really fun.
The women here are free, free to go anywhere at any time, even dancing in the grounds never cater men’s crowd.
Keeping this in view, when the women of our society talk about Empowerment, this is absolutely “Daring” in a place where the Rape, Child Abuse and Looting has become a daily news. She is combating for self and bearing societal pressure. How brave is she!!!
And for all of that, I salute to all my dear Pakistani Women and I embrace their fight against all odds to make their mark in their lives and in the society.
And I am proud to be a Powerful woman because my society has transformed me to live like a fighter in the journey of my life.
Love China
